Celestial Gems is one of the most stunning Block of the Month programs available — rich jewel-toned Aura and Vibe batik fabrics from QT Fabrics come together in a dramatic, medallion-style quilt that showcases foundational quilting techniques month by month.

Your CGS Instructor guides you through every step — from square-in-a-square assembly and flying geese to HST techniques and final assembly. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced quilter, this program is designed to grow your skills while producing something truly beautiful.

What You'll Build Each Month

Each class focuses on a new block and teaches a key quilting technique you'll use for life.

Month 1 · January

Square in a Square

Checkerboard assembly — the perfect foundation block for the whole quilt.

Month 2 · February

Snowball Corners

Labelling units effectively for an unconventional assembly diagram. HST with a snowball corner.

Month 3 · March

Travelling Colors

Color placement discussion — techniques that translate to Around the World, Irish Chain, and bargello quilts.

Month 4 · April

Flying Geese

Color value in a star block. HST with snowball corner — essential geese-making techniques.

Month 5 · May

Lots of Geese!

Large blocks and squaring up as you go — keeping everything perfectly aligned at scale.

Month 6 · June

HST Mastery

Half-square triangles at their finest. Your CGS Instructor will also discuss timing for finishing with your longarmer.

Month 7 · July · Grand Finale

Complete Your Masterpiece

Easy partial seams and full quilt-top assembly. By the end of this class you'll have a completed 96½" × 96½" quilt top ready for longarming.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior quilting experience?

Not at all! Your CGS Instructor teaches every technique from scratch. Beginners are not just welcome — they're encouraged. This program is specifically designed to build your skills month by month.

What if I miss a month?

No problem — you only pay when you attend. Virtual students also receive a class recording so you can catch up on any session you missed.

How do I join virtually?

After you register, we'll email a Zoom link before each class along with your supply list. All you need is a computer, tablet, or phone with a camera.

Where do I get the fabric?

All fabric for the quilt top and binding is provided each month as part of the program. You will only need to purchase backing fabric separately. Registered students receive a discount on backing fabric purchased in-store.

Is the registration fee refundable?

Registration fees are non-refundable but are transferable. If something comes up, reach out to us and we'll do our best to work with you.

When does the program start?

Classes begin January 2027 and run monthly through July 2027. Register now — spots are limited and the program sells out.

What is the finished quilt size?

The completed Celestial Gems quilt finishes at 96½" × 96½" — a stunning full king-size quilt using Aura and Vibe fabrics from QT Fabrics, designed by Blooming Boldly Designs.
